Will Chris Paul Ever Win a Ring?
Before I start this blog, Kudos to the Bucks Organization for pulling through the 2020
– 21 season and for winning the Championship! Giannis, Khris, and Jrue Holiday
truly are a great trio; you’ve got Giannis who is primarily a Slasher and paint
defender, Jrue Holiday who excels in lockdown defending and playmaking, and
Khris Middleton, who is a great pull up midrange and 3-point shooter. Thanks to
Coach Mike Budenholzer, he pulled the Bucks together after game 2 of the
finals, and cheers to Giannis, Jrue, Khris, Lopez, PJ Tucker, and others for
all doing their part in winning the Chip!
Will Chris Paul win a ring in his career?
Chris Paul is a 36-year-old point guard currently playing
for the Phoenix Suns (2020 – 21 NBA season) and averaged 16.4 points, a great
8.9 assists, and about 5 rebounds in his 16th year of his NBA
career. After Phoenix acquired Chris Paul, the Phoenix Suns amazingly placed 2nd
in the regular season, and made it to the finals. Its quite surprising
actually, due to the fact that the Phoenix Suns were not a playoff team for
around a decade, until this year. Chris Paul was the missing point guard for
the Suns, the chemistry between Chris and Devin Booker clicking nearly right
away. After Game 2 of the finals, Suns were up 2 – 0 against the Bucks, and
everyone expected the Suns to win it all. Unfortunately, Suns lost the next 4 games in
a row, and got defeated by the Bucks in game 6. After losing the Finals, the
Suns and Chris Paul were disheartened, and almost every fan afterward came to
the conclusion that Chris Paul will be like Charles Barkley or Allen Iverson;
an amazing player without a ring in their career. Chris Paul’s career is not over yet, but he’ll have to take initiative very near in the future, which is why I think its a good idea for Chris Paul to leave the Phoenix Suns.
In my opinion, I don't think Chris Paul with the Suns will help them win a championship in the next few years, as most players are still young and growing and have little playoff experience. There are some trade rumors regarding Chris Paul going to
Knicks, Lakers, Heat, or Mavericks. In my opinion, the best team for him is most
likely Lakers, but Knicks and Mavericks make a close second.
According to Marc J. Spears of Undefeated, Lakers are attempting
to acquire a veteran point guard this off season, and Chris Paul is expected to
be “hunted down” by the Lakers as well. Additionally, Lakers are willing to
trade away Talen Horton Tucker, Kyle Kuzma, and Dennis Schroeder. Lakers would
have to pull off a sign and trade for Chris Paul though, primarily because the
Lakers are projected to not have any cap space this off season.
If the Lakers actually pull off this sign and trade for
Chris Paul, Next season would be amazing for the Lakers. You got the King Lebron,
who is long time friends with Chris Paul, and you have AD as well! If this
trio with the Lakers happen and everyone stays healthy, no doubt Lakers would
win the 2021 - 22 championship, and be considered one of the best trios in the current NBA (Also considering the deadly trio of the Brooklynn Nets).
If you are asking me, this is the best next steps Chris Paul
can take in for the rest of his career, potentially helping him win a Championship with the next couple of years he has left as an NBA player.
